About staying at Gindabara

  • Yes. There is a QR code on the fridge in the kitchen.

  • No, there isn’t a supermarket on the island. However, basic supplies can be bought from the Curlew Cafe located near the passenger ferry terminal.

    The nearest supermarket on the mainland is located in the Victoria Point shopping centre, about a 10 minute drive from the Coochie barge terminal on the mainland.

  • If you need to organise catering during your stay at Gindabara, contact Joe from the Curlew Cafe.

  • Curlew Cafe (near the ferry terminal) — an appealing venue for quality coffee, lunches, dinners and takeaways. Plus, basic supplies, cakes and home-made jams and pickles can be bought at the cafe.

  • Things to consider bringing to Gindabara:

    Food and drinks for your group. Coochiemdulo doesn’t have a supermarket or corner store. However, limited, basic supplies are available at the Curlew Care. See info about supplies and restaurants on Coochie.

    Personal items. Gindabara provides a basic body wash that can also be used as shampoo. You might like to bring your own favourite item like shampoo, conditioner and sunscreen.

    Beach towels.

    Mosquito and midgee repellent. Like all of Queensland’s coastal areas, Coochie can experience pesky mossies and midgees.

    Firewood. There is a fire pit on the Gindabara property to use throughout the year. In the cold months, you might like to use the open fire in the Main Hall.

    Melaleuca Wetlands walk — the wetlands, located on the north-east of Coochie, are protected by RAMSAR and has a walking track that funs alongside the beach for perfect views of Stradbroke island. See Visit Coochiemudlo Island for more information.

  • No, there isn’t a chemist on the Island. The nearest chemist is at Victoria Point, about 10 minute drive from the Coochie ferry terminal on the mainland.
